Our Mission

The Polk Arts and Health Collaborative advances the integration of neuroarts to improve community well-being. Through research, education, advocacy, and collaboration, we empower organizations, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to harness the arts for holistic health.

What is NeuroArts

NeuroArts sits at the intersection of science, technology, and creativity. Studies show that engaging in the arts can reduce stress, boost cognitive function, and enhance emotional well-being. By integrating the arts into health strategies, and by working together, we can find creative and effective solutions to complex health challenges. PAHC is a Collaborative based off of the NeuroArts Blueprint

Why Now

With Polk County’s population expected to grow by over 20% by 2030, our community faces both opportunities and challenges. As we expand, so do the health needs of our residents. The NeuroArts Collaborative aims to support health and wellness through targeted arts initiatives.

Areas of Focus

We plan to address key health topics by leveraging the Arts,

 including:

  • Behavioral Health: Supporting mental health and emotional well-being.
  • Chronic Diseases: Using arts-based programs to improve outcomes for diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer.
  • Exercise, Nutrition & Weight: Encouraging healthy lifestyles through creative engagement.

5 Guiding Pillars

  • Advance Research: Understand how the arts can improve health outcomes.
  • Build Partnerships: Connect artists, healthcare providers, researchers, and community groups.
  • Promote Education: Share the benefits of NeuroArts through workshops and programs.
  • Expand Access: Make sure everyone can benefit, with a focus on underserved populations.
  •  Advocate for Change: Encourage policymakers to include arts in public health strategies.
